Unexpected Joy: Lessons From A Towed RV

This week has been a doozy. I've been eagerly awaiting my new bed, but after learning it would be weeks late due to shipping issues, I had to settle for an old mattress on a cold floor. On top of that, I’ve been facing spiritual attacks in my marriage while navigating constant changes at work.
It gets better—seriously, catch the sarcasm! My husband and I are preparing for one of the biggest shifts in our lives since getting married, and it couldn’t be scarier. To top it off, we found out a family member we were close to tested positive for COVID, leaving me stunned after all my precautions.
On my day off, we sat in our car waiting for our COVID test results. The mix of fear, anxiety, and strangely, hope, was overwhelming. While we waited, we witnessed an RV being towed away—someone's home, livelihood, or getaway—aggressively taken in broad daylight on a national holiday. If you have a similar sense of humor, you’ll get the irony.
Now, if that RV belonged to you in Clinton, MS during the MLK Holiday, I sincerely apologize and hope everything's okay. But in that moment, my husband and I realized something profound.
“Baby, I’ve seen a lot in my life, but I’ve never seen anything like that. We’ve had our struggles, but some people have it worse, and that RV proves it.”
I couldn’t help but laugh. The absurdity of it all was a reminder of God's presence. He impressed on my heart:
“I’ve given you laughter as a gift.”
In a week filled with hardships, joy broke through and filled the room.
I want to encourage you, Sis, that even through pain, grief, and uncertainty, God is with you. He promised to never abandon you—and sometimes, He uses something as random as an RV being towed away to remind you of that.
I’m still navigating this challenging season, but I take comfort knowing my Daddy God is with me every step of the way, sprinkling in joy when I need it most.
And again, if that was your RV, I apologize.
